About 1,200 residents in Jingjiang city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – embraced the first day of 2024 by listening to a glorious symphony concert.
Under the baton of conductor Jing Huan, the China National Symphony Orchestra performed at the Jingjiang Grand Theater, offering not only popular New Year songs but also the warm and familiar folk music of Jiangsu province.

This was also the first performance at the Jingjiang Grand Theater – a new cultural landmark of the city which will stage various performing arts such as symphonies, musicals and plays.
"I used to go to big cities like Shanghai and Nanjing to enjoy concerts, but now I'm thrilled to have such a great concert venue right on my doorstep," said music fan Xue Yang.
Another member of the audience, Wang Caiping, said she was excited to enjoy such a high-quality concert locally and looked forwards to more wonderful shows.
In addition to the concert, Jingjiang residents also celebrated the New Year with traditional Chinese storytelling and performing arts staged by a local troupe.
