Costing more than 2 billion yuan ($280 million), the Outlet Shopping Plaza will sit on a site covering 104,500 square meters and comprise a dozen individual buildings with a total floor space of 174,100 sq m.
On completion, it will create more than 2,300 new jobs and generate annual sales revenue of 1 billion yuan.
The complex is designed to complement the new town's premium commercial functions and lead a transformation of the city's commercial landscape with its diversified, high-quality and international development model.
Zhang Changping, Party chief of Jingjiang, outlined the project at a signing ceremony on Jan 1.
He said that with consumer demand and spending patterns continuing to rise in Jingjiang, residents wanted new and improved services in the areas of culture and entertainment, medical treatment and health, as well as in the retail sector.
As the future CBD and an area of prime commercial agglomeration in Jingjiang, Binjiang new town has been positioned as a modern service center.
In line with the city's southward development strategy, it's believed that Jingjiang urgently needs to lure a group of enterprises that lead with high-end business formats that are highly popular and feature top brands.
