The focus of the project is the advancement of key techniques for molten salt energy storage in eco-friendly, low-carbon power systems.
As the world's first demonstration project to integrate coal power with molten salt thermal storage, its objective is to boost the energy utilization efficiency of the power grid, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources and ensure the stability of the power system.
With the project now operational, it's expected to reduce coal consumption in the region by 100,000 metric tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 240,000 tons annually. What's more, it is projected to help build a new type of power system with new energy as the mainstay.
Looking ahead, the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone plans to leverage its status as a national pilot park for reaching peak carbon emissions – bolstering its scientific and technological capabilities in the field.
