The city of Jingjiang – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is making significant efforts to pave the way for the increased innovation and the development of its science and technology-based small and midsized enterprises, or SMEs.
The overarching aim is to boost its industry to higher levels of excellence and competitiveness.

Jingjiang was placed on the fifth provincial list of science and technology-based SMEs on Aug 15, with 62 of its enterprises chosen – making it the city with the highest number of selected enterprises in Taizhou.
Furthermore, Jingjiang was also included in the list of innovative model cities in Jiangsu province earlier this year.
The city's main objective is to foster grassroots innovation, enhance independent innovation capacity and promote the integration of the innovation, industry, capital and talent supply chains.
As such, Jingjiang has established close partnerships with over 60 colleges and universities nationwide. It has also completed the construction of nine technology commercialization centers and several research and development institutions.
These collaborations are said to have strengthened the city's innovation ecosystem and provided a solid foundation for scientific advancement.
In addition, Jingjiang has implemented various initiatives to promote self-innovation and enhance its advanced manufacturing capabilities.
By the end of 2022, the city had cultivated 315 high-tech enterprises, highlighting the city's commitment to fostering innovation and driving economic growth.
