The Jingjiang Northern Industrial Park – situated in the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is making good progress building a new community bookstore that will boost local reading.
It's constructing a 24-hour convenience bookstore in the Wangjiang community, Gushan town, in the county-level city of Jingjiang – under the administration of Taizhou.
The bookstore is one of the key cultural projects in Gushan townfor this year.

In order to meet the diverse reading needs of its grassroots residents, Gushan township has been actively exploring the "Reading +" model since the start of the year.
Gushan has taken advantage of rural bookstores in various villages and communities to carry out a variety of activities, creating a reading service circle within a 15-minute walking distance of the homes of residents and bringing "reading happiness" to locals.
Recently, the township invited retired teacher Yang Xiuling to give a special lecture and launched the Green Reading Initiative, calling on students to stay away from cultural junk.
Under the initiative, volunteers have recommended excellent reading materials and channels to students through posters and distributing green bookmarks, aiming to stimulate their interest in reading and improve the quality of reading.
They've also organized themed recitations, in which students passionately recited various articles and signed the "Nurturing Seedlings, Green Bookmark" poster as a commitment to practicing good reading habits.
Looking ahead, plans are for Gushan town to continue to refine the layout of the 15-minute reading service circle and closely collaborate with the municipal library to achieve a comprehensive system of borrowing and returning books.
This is expected to create an atmosphere for lifelong learning, where everyone can learn anywhere and at any time.
