Manufacturer Jiangsu Zoolnasm Energy Technology Co Ltd – based in Suzhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – recently launched its latest electric bicycle powered by a sodium ion battery and Taizhou city in Jiangsu is one of the four global first-launch cities.
Notably, the high-performance Poly Sodium No.1 sodium ion battery pack equipped on the latest electric bicycle is produced by Taizhou Nana Energy Technology Co Ltd.
That's a subsidiary company that was established by Jiangsu Zoolnasm Energy Technology Co Ltd in Taizhou's Hailing Industrial Park last year.
In recent years, with the increasing scarcity of lithium resources, sodium ion batteries have gradually entered people's field of vision, said Li Xiang, general manager of Taizhou Nana Energy Technology Co Ltd.
The Poly Sodium No.1 battery boasted many advantages – such as a fast charging speed, long cycle life, good low-temperature performance and excellent safety and environmental protection performance, with a broad market prospect, said Zhao Xiaofei, director of the Taizhou company's brand management department.
In terms of battery performance, a test showed that if the battery is not charged for one month, the battery retention is still 85 percent. After discharging the battery, the recovery rate can reach 99 percent. Normal use is basically not affected.
Zhao added that in the current situation, where the industrial supply chain is not fully mature, the price of each Poly Sodium No.1 sodium ion battery pack is only about 150 yuan ($20.70) higher than that of ordinary lead-acid batteries.
