The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, East China's Anhui province, ranked 16th among China's 386 national development zones in terms of the development of its biomedicine industry, one place higher than last year, according to an annual list.

The list, recently released by CCID Consulting and Sina Medicine, ranked the development zones based on indicators such as output value, innovation capacity, and research and development capabilities.

Official statistics showed that the Hefei high-tech zone is now home to more than 400 enterprises engaged in the biomedicine industry. The production and sales value of the zone's biomedicine industry exceeded 55 billion yuan ($8.5 billion) in 2020, maintaining double-digit growth for five consecutive years.
