Chinese internet giant Tencent launched its new regional headquarters for the smart technology industry in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, on July 9.
The headquarters based in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone will house an R&D staff of more than 3,000 people.
Tencent expects the Hefei headquarters' total operation revenue over the next four years to reach more than 5 billion yuan ($770.5 million) by serving local government and enterprises' digitization efforts.
Qiu Yuepeng, vice president of Tencent, said that Tencent will increase investment in Hefei through the headquarters to help build the city into a digital economy hub.
The company plans to bring in industrial funds, incubation resources, as well as open technology infrastructure and R&D resources to attract more digital economy projects across China to develop in Hefei.
