The iHammer Go team from Hefei ranked first place in the Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challenge (RMRC) at the 2019 (23rd) RoboCup in Sydney, Australia, which ran from July 2 to July 8.

The team consisting of 12 to 13 year olds showcased a passion for science and technology but also won China the top spot in the RMRC.

With solid theoretical knowledge and superb programming skills, the teenagers stood out from among more than 170 scientific research institutions and universities from nearly 50 countries.

RoboCup is an annual international event aiming to promote robotics and artificial intelligence research by offering an appealing but formidable challenge.

Without distinction between ages, participants in the RMRC must design a robot entirely by themselves, including the machine, circuit and software algorithm.

The team is from a robotics education institution sponsored by the Institute of Advanced Technology of the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.
