It was a landmark moment, as digital map provider NavInfo inked an agreement to open its second headquarters in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone on May 24.

NavInfo is a leading Beijing-based provider of mapping services, traffic information and customized solutions which boasts a dynamic range of products for passenger and commercial vehicles.

Officials at the event included Party Secretary of Hefei Municipal Government, Song Guoquan, who talked with Navinfo Chairman Wu Jinfeng and CEO, Cheng Peng. Song said that he hoped the company would help develop Hefei's AI industry and promote its scientific innovation.

New projects involving intelligent networks, automobile electronic chips and big data, are set to be launched in the zone to help improve its AI industry chain.
