Huawei to set up innovation center in Hefei

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei inaugurated an artificial intelligence innovation center in Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, Hefei city, Anhui province, on May 16.

At the inauguration ceremony, Huawei and the zone signed a cooperation agreement to advance the artificial intelligence industry.

Xu Zhijun, the rotating president of Huawei, said the company will make use of its technological advantages in networking, telecommunications equipment and services to facilitate the development of related enterprises in Hefei.

Song Guoquan, Party secretary of Hefei, pledged to improve the business environment for Huawei and provide supporting services to aid in the establishment of the new innovation center.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of cooperating in more fields such as 5G technology and digital construction. Xu expects to launch more high-quality projects in Anhui through closer cooperation with universities and institutes in the province.

Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices. The company invests heavily in basic technological research. It now has more than 180,000 employees and operates in more than 170 countries and regions.
