With a series of quality projects coming to Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in recent years, the integrated circuit (IC) industry in Hefei ranked in the top five nationally, a sign of the progress that has been made in developing the industry locally.

To date, the zone has gathered more than 150 IC enterprises, covering all industrial chains from IC design and manufacturing to testing and material production. The zone now houses six national IC innovative platforms and has registered 306 patents.

Since it issued its first special supporting policy in Hefei city for the development of the IC industry in 2013, the zone has provided subsidies for investment in scientific research, intellectual property rights and talents recruitment.

To turn itself into a IC design base with nationwide influence, the zone is planning to gather more than 200 design enterprises and build two or three semiconductor manufacturing lines by 2020.
