Anhui University inaugurated an institute for innovative research in the field of green industry in Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone in Anhui province on April 26.

With an investment of 416 million yuan ($61.81 million), the institute is expected to cover an area of 28,000 square meters after a construction period from July 2019 to December 2020.

The institute, established by Hefei municipal government and Anhui University, will focus on the development of green energy, materials and manufacturing, aiming to turn green industry into a new economic driver for Anhui.

During the inauguration ceremony, Anhui University signed cooperation agreements with high-end research institutions, investment companies and high-tech enterprises in green industry to carry out research in key technologies and advanced products.

"The institute will provide services in innovation and entrepreneurship for scientific researchers and promote the commercialization of technological achievements," said Kuang Guangli, president of Anhui University.
