The ion medical center in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Anhui province is planning to install the primary equipment for its proton treatment system.

The planned proton therapy system makes Hefei the second city in China after Shanghai to introduce the cutting-edge technology into the field of oncotherapy.

As a research base of the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China, the ion medical center is a technology innovation platform for the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center.

The proton therapy system is expected to enter the final stage of implementation by the end of 2019 and will improve clinical treatment for cancer patients.
