To attract more talents and expand its international influence, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone invited overseas students in Hefei city, capital of Anhui province, to visit tech firms on March 21.

The open day was staged by the city’s foreign affairs office and the zone won plaudits for its display of advanced technology achievements.

Overseas students from 14 countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Sudan and Nepal visited the service center for international talents, the speech tech firm iFlytek and the institute of advanced technology of the University of Science and Technology of China.

The tour showed them some of the innovative achievements of the new economic industries from the zone, such as the quantum technology, artificial intelligence and new energy industries.

A robot named Jia Jia, China's first service robot world champion, wooed overseas students with its human-like functions in the exhibition hall of the institute of advanced technology.

Bai Xiaoleng, a Russian student majoring in international trade in the Hefei University of Technology, said his dream is to start businesses to promote trade exchanges between China and Russia.

After the visit, overseas students got to know more about the development of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone through a promotional video and a detailed introduction in the conference room of the administrative committee of the zone.
