Innovation has been a key factor that drives the development of emerging industries in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, Anhui province.

China Speech Valley, a scientific and technological hub sitting in the zone, has integrated artificial intelligence technology with speech, semantics, calculating and writing under the joint efforts of the national laboratory of the University of Science and Technology of China and iFlytek, its core enterprise.

It is technological innovation that makes China Speech Valley the only national industrial base focusing on intelligent speech and artificial intelligence, according to Qi Dongfeng, president of the operating unit of the Valley.

"Looking ahead, we will strive to build a good industrial environment to cultivate more innovative enterprises and advanced technologies," said Qi.

By the end of 2018, Anhui had attracted 398 teams of high-caliber talents dedicated to research and 4,710 high-tech enterprises through the favorable policies on offer for scientific innovation.

The 2019 government report of Anhui announced that full support will be given to the national comprehensive science center and the national laboratory set up for quantum information technology research, both important projects of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, for further innovation-driven development.
