With a total investment amounting to 5 billion yuan ($741.83 million), the park is expected to cover an area of about 600 mu (40 hectares) with a planned floor area of about 400,000 square meters.
It is the first comprehensive community for innovation and entrepreneurship in the high-tech zone, and will also act as an incubation base covering maker spaces, accelerators and funding clusters.
It will also provide comprehensive services for startups relating to artificial intelligence, healthcare and digital information under the joint efforts of Zhonganchuanggu, an enterprise funded by Anhui Provincial Investment Group Holding Co Ltd, and the high-tech zone.
Hu Hao, vice president of the Anhui Provincial Investment Group, said the park will serve as a link to bring global resources and projects of innovation to Anhui, aiming to become a benchmark for international standards in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The park saw eight high-tech enterprises stationed upon its launch, among which Huami, a leading company in wearable technology set up an innovation center to facilitate the production of more world-leading products with the company's core technology.
"It is Hefei's superior scientific and educational strength, excellent human resources, favorable industrial policies and incubation environment that attracts high-class projects to the high-tech zone," said Song Daojun, director of the administrative committee of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.
According to Song, a cluster of special funds will be provided for the development of strategic emerging industries in the zone.
