Between January and July this year, a total of 305,000 metric tons of zirconium and titanium ores - a year-on-year increase of nearly 100 percent - were imported through Haidong New District Customs, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang Customs.
Zirconium ores are widely applied in the foundry, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, nuclear, and chemicals industries, while titanium ores are used in a wide range of industries like aerospace, the military, chemicals, transportation, and environmental protection.
Haidong New District Customs has launched several measures to support enterprises in resuming work and production.
The department guides enterprises to choose diversified customs clearance models such as declaration-in-advance, self-declaration and self-payment, and tax collection. It has also simplified the procedures of overtime appointments to meet the needs of enterprises for rapid clearance of raw materials.
In addition, the department has optimized the operations management of transportation facilities to speed up port inspections and clearance. Officials were sent to enterprises to conduct field research and help solve any problems existing in the current customs clearance process.
"Thanks to customs' support for zirconium and titanium processing enterprises, the current customs clearance procedures are efficient and convenient," said the person in charge of Zhanjiang's zirconium and titanium ore industry association. "Measures like balance guarantee and tax collection have improved the liquidity of funds, ensuring enterprises' normal operation."
