Ou Xianwei, vice mayor of Zhanjiang, met with a delegation led by Bertrand Mothe, vice president of Metro China, on July 27, conducting exchanges on deepening cooperation between the government and enterprises to achieve mutually beneficial development.
Metro China is a retailer jointly owned by Beijing-based Wumei Group and German wholesaler Metro AG.
Ou said that Zhanjiang boasts rich aquatic resources and a mature aquaculture industry. He expressed his hopes that Metro China would make full use of its advantages to help the high-quality upgrading of Zhanjiang's aquatic products and the building of high-end aquatic product brands.
Mothe, along with his procurement team, visited the aquaculture bases and processing factories in Zhanjiang, learning more about the implementation of quality standards in the whole process of producing and processing aquatic products.
Mothe said that Zhanjiang is located at the junction of Guangdong province, Hainan province, and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, boasting an advantageous geographical location.
Metro has long-term cooperation with high-quality aquatic products suppliers in Zhanjiang, added Mothe. In 2019, 350 metric tons of Zhanjiang aquatic products had been sold all over China through Metro's national sales network.
Metro will deepen its cooperation with outstanding enterprises like Shanghai Mingfen Industrial Co Ltd and Zhanjiang Gangyang Aquatic Products Co Ltd to develop diversified products and to explore cooperation in various forms.
Shanghai-based Metro Business Group Co Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Mingfen Industrial Co Ltd on the same day. The two sides will work together to promote the high-quality aquatic products of Zhanjiang in both domestic and foreign markets, creating a high-quality aquatic industry chain.
