The Fangjinhui Purple Clay Teapots Art Museum in Zhanjiang is scheduled to open on May 1, the first day of the five-day Labor Day holiday.
The two-story art museum covers a combined floor area of 1,800 square meters and exhibits the whole birth process of purple clay teapots.
Dozens of purple clay minerals are displayed on the first floor of the art museum, as well as the technological processes and tools for making a purple clay teapot. Thousands of such teapots, which took 22 masters three years to make, are on display on the second floor.
In addition, several masters will make purple clay teapots on sitethe spot and teach visitors how to make one.
"The art museum aims to inherit and carry forward the traditional purple clay teapot culture, and encourage the spirit of originality," said the curator of the art museum.
The "Fangjinhui" brand is from Yixing in Jiangsu province, renowned as the hometown of purple clay, and was founded in 2017. The reserves of pottery clay in Yixing account for more than 95 percent of the province's total. Yixing purple clay teapot is a national intangible cultural heritage.
