A total of 16,800 metric tons of low-sulfur bunker fuel oil recently entered the export supervised warehouse of Zhanjiang Port for use of foreign ships after passing the inspections of Xiahai Customs under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang Customs.

The export of the low-sulfur bunker fuel oil, which was produced by Sinopec Zhanjiang Dongxing Petrochemical Co Ltd, was a first in the history of Zhanjiang Port and also strong proof of the port's efforts to promote the steady growth of foreign trade.

The Implementation Scheme of the Global Marine Fuel Oil Sulphur Limit by 2020 issued by the Maritime Safety Administration took effect on Jan 1. It prohibited international vessels entering the waters of the People's Republic of China from using fuel oil with sulfur content of more than 0.5 percent starting from March 1.

To ensure the smooth export of low-sulfur bunker fuel oil, Zhanjiang Customs actively guided the enterprise in the preliminary infrastructure construction of the export supervised warehouse, as well as the preparation of materials, on-site rectification, and the submission of materials, facilitating the establishment of the nearly 50,000-cubic meter export supervision warehouse.
