As the last two patients infected by the novel coronavirus or the COVID-19 left the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University and Zhanjiang Central People's Hospital, all 22 confirmed cases in Zhanjiang have been cured and discharged as of March 5.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Zhanjiang has made great efforts and achieved good result in more than a month under the strong deployment and guidance of the government. No confirmed cases died, no medical staff were infected, and all patients were cured.

The city has taken many measures to fight against the epidemic. It has designated 10 hospitals for the treatment of novel coronavirus. Any suspected case was immediately transferred to the designated hospitals for testing. All confirmed cases were clearly collected and treated in two high-level hospitals, of which 16 cases were treated at Zhanjiang Central People's Hospital and six cases were treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University.

A total of 43 experts were on duty and uniformly dispatched to conduct multidisciplinary consultation guidance on confirmed cases, especially severe cases. The hospitals continued to optimize the diagnosis and treatment plan to ensure precise treatment for each patient.

Hospitals also promoted the early intervention of traditional Chinese medicine in clinical treatment and syndrome differentiation to improve the cure rate.

In addition, the city enabled its first outpatient clinic for novel coronavirus pneumonia recovery to strengthen the health monitoring of discharged patients.

Although all confirmed patients were cured and discharged, the government and medical staff both stressed that this did not mean the epidemic was over. People still need to continue to vigorously focus on the prevention and control efforts of the epidemic, as well as pay great attention to self-protection.
