Zhanjiang bonded logistics center (B type) has made great achievements since its opening in 2016, according to statistics released by Zhanjiang customs Nov 26.
Currently the logistics center is able to carry out five bonded businesses including bonded warehouse and bonded simple processing and has kept breaking records in customs declaration volume, cargo volume as well as cargo value.
In the first 10 months of 2019, the overall entry-exit cargo volume reached 387,000 metric tons, up 72.6 percent year-on-year, while total cargo value climbed to $171 million, an increase of 71 percent. Five warehouses and a 50,000-square-meter storage yard have been operating at full capacity.
Zhanjiang customs has released a new business model allowing companies to transport cargo into the center in batches and make combined declarations, as the center stores mainly bulk cargo and companies from outside Zhanjiang are facing inconvience in transportation.
The local customs has also applied innovations gained from experiences at other pilot free trade zones, such as making declarations after exit into its bonded simple processing business.
Efforts have been made to simplify declaration items to improve operational efficiency, cutting import declaration items from 229 to 105, declaration documents from 74 to 10 and certifications from 86 to 26.
Zhanjiang customs has launched convenient measures for large bulk cargo such as chemical fertilizer, shortening by two-thirds the entry-exit time to save costs for companies. Currently the import volume of compound fertilizer accounts for 7 percent of the total volume in China.
