There are a group of special people in Lianjiang, Guangdong province who have made unique achievements in different fields with their persistent and innovative spirit.

Their belief in pursuing excellence have helped them overcome difficulties and finally master superb skills in manufacturing home appliances, making pianos, as well as medical research and application.

Chen Xianzhuang: creator of self-owned brand of electric kettles

Chen Xianzhuang first engaged in producing rice cookers before setting up his own brand of electric kettles when he foresaw changes in the market.

 Chen set up a factory with a dozen employees to produce rice cookers in 2004. At the end of 2006, Chen felt that the market for rice cookers was nearly saturated and decided to develop electric kettles. He invested a large amount of money to recruit technical personnel to conduct technological innovation, as well as product research and development, before finally setting up his own brand, Longli Electric Kettle.

Longli has launched ten kinds of products to meet customers' different requirements for the functions and styles of electric kettles. In 2017, Chen invested more than 10 million yuan ($1.45 million) to recruit over 20 technicians and developed the vacuum electric kettle, which can preserve heat for 12 hours. The new product was well received by the market.

Chen's company has set up a research and development center whose innovative designs have won several national patents of invention, utility model, and appearance. Longli electric kettles have been sold in more than 50 countries around the world.

Liang Yong: owner of two piano making patents

Liang Yong, who graduated from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, is sixty years old now. He has been engaging in manufacturing and developing pianos for almost 20 years, and has owned a utility patent and an appearance patent.

Liang established the Otamo Piano Factory in 2000. In 2016, the company renamed itself to Guangdong Longjoin Musical Instruments Co Ltd when it started to cooperate with Longjoin Group, an enterprise devoted to the audio and video industry, as well as musical culture. Liang is the technical director of the new company.

The piano manufactured under the supervision of Liang Yong won the golden prizes at the 10th China Patent New Technology and New Product Exposition in 2002. The Otamo piano designed by Liang also received positive critical appreciation at the Shanghai Piano Expo in 2004. Liang is also the winner of the Guangdong "May 1" Labor Model of 2019.

Huang Heng: pioneer of breast surgery

Huang Heng is a chief physician of breast surgery in Lianjiang People’s Hospital. In 2010, she took the lead to establish the first Breast Surgery Department in the west of Guangdong province.

The department has been designated as a major department of Zhanjiang. It annually receives approximately 10,000 outpatients and more than 2,000 inpatients, carrying out over 1,000 surgeries.

Huang has successfully completed various difficult operation cases, including almost 10,000 breast-related cases. She is also a pioneer in conducting breast-conserving therapy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, as well as breast reconstruction and plastic surgery in western Guangzhou.

In addition to her work at the hospital, Huang also has undertaken academic studies for Zhanjiang and clinical research for Sun Yat-Sen University. She has a dozen academic papers published in provincial and national core journals.
