The wind power capacity of China Resources Power (CR Power) Holdings that is connected to grid has reached 8 million kilowatts, and the energy company held a ceremony to celebrate the milestone at its wind power plant in Leizhou, Guangdong province on May 28.

A memorial stone marking the achievement was also unveiled at the site.

Since CR Power's entry into Leizhou, a city under the administration of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, it has put wind power generators into operation with a combined capacity of 200,000 KW and finished an investment of 1.6 billion yuan ($231.5 million).

CR Power plans to further invest 3 billion yuan to develop clean energy projects and other energy projects, with a total capacity of 370,000 KW, promoting Zhanjiang's economic and social development, as well as the city's environmental protection efforts, contributing to the mutually beneficial development between the local government and the company.

As a state-owned company, CR Power has been dedicated to green energy and the exploration of green development in Zhanjiang to achieve mutually beneficial results and create a green energy base.

The company's projects in Zhanjiang have realized economic, ecological, and social benefits. The local government will provide good services and strong support for the company in working together to build the green energy center and to boost the local economy, said the city's vice mayor Cao Xing.

CR Power has been focusing on clean energy, such as wind power generation, in recent years, and the achievement of reaching 8 million-KW capacity is considered a great breakthrough for the company.

It occurred only half a year after the company's wind power capacity reached 7 million KW on Nov 26, 2018, marking a brand-new stage for wind power development and a solid foundation for the company to achieve the strategic goals of the national 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20).
