Zhanjiang issues first permit for online ride-haling platforms

The city of Zhanjiang issued its first online ride-hailing permit for a company on April 19. 

The permit was awarded to Lanhai Technologies Zhanjiang Branch, the operator of the online ride-hailing platform Bang Bang Xing. It marks that online ride-hailing platforms can begin their operations in Zhanjiang.

According to officials from the Zhanjiang transport bureau, more online ride-hailing companies will register in Zhanjiang and provide their services to Zhanjiang citizens.

According to statistics, currently there are are more than 10,000 drivers working for ride-hailing platforms in Zhanjiang. Early in March this year, the city rolled out provisional regulations on the management of ride-hailing services in Zhanjiang to offer better supervision for ride-hailing platforms.

As of now, more than 3,000 applications for the driver's license for online ride-hailing platforms have been received and over 1,000 people have passed the online qualification examination and review. The city's transportation bureau calls on all online hailing car drivers who haven't obtained the special licenses to apply for them.
