375,479 air trips made during Spring Festival in Zhanjiang

Zhanjiang Airport hosted 3,252 flights carrying 375,479 passengers to and from the city during the Jan 21-March 1 Spring Festival travel rush, up 26.88 percent and 37.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The daily number of passengers exceeded 9,000 people during the period. Traffic peaked on Feb 11, the first work day after the weeklong Spring Festival holiday from Feb 4 to 10, with a record-breaking 12,154 travelers counted.

Some of them were migrants returning home from big cities such as Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, and Harbin, while some were tourists bound for Bangkok, Thailand, or Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Flights to and from these destinations were on average 85 percent full.

Cargo and mail throughput also increased by 38.7 percent to 1,166.48 tons.
