"New Year of East, West, South and North China", a scaled-down version of the Spring Festival Gala, was recorded in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province on Jan 15.
The program is produced by China Central Television (CCTV) with the aim of showcasing different New Year's customs from different areas around the country. Zhanjiang was chosen as a parallel session of the gala this year, along with Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Zhengzhou of Henan province, and Meishan of Sichuan province.

Negmat Rehman and Hu Die served as anchors for the Zhanjiang session, which featured performances by music duo Phoenix Legend, "Prince of Love Ballads" Jeff Chang Shin-Che, folk singer Ma Liang, tenor singer Lv Jihong and treble singer Zhang Ye.
Wuchuan Piaose, Donghai Human Dragon Dance, Leizhou Drum Exchanging and the lion dance were also performed in order to give local folk performances a national audience.

The program will premiere at primetime hours on CCTV-1 and CCTV-3 on Feb 3, and will be broadcast on other channels throughout the Spring Festival.
