A 1.6-billion-yuan ($233-million) project involving the value-added processing of sea rice will be carried out in Suixi county, Zhanjiang.

After becoming operational, the projecy will be capable of processing 30,000 tons of sea rice into glutathione, octacosanol and nutrient rice noodles annually. 

A cooperation agreement was signed on Dec 12 between the Zhanjiang Research Center of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, the Guangzhou Sugarcane Industry Research Center, the Zhanjiang Sugarcane Research Center of the Industry Research Institute and Guangdong Yuandao Biotechnology Co Ltd.
