China leads Canada 82-65 in Asian Games warm-up

The first confrontation of the Sino-Canadian Women's International Basketball Challenge concluded at Zhanjiang Sports Center on Aug 1, with the Chinese women's basketball team beating its Canadian counterpart 82-65.

The two teams will next move to Guangzhou Asian Games City Comprehensive Sports Center for the second matchup on Aug 3. The two contests are warm-up for the 18th Asian Games, which will be held in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, from Aug 18 to Sept 2.

Yao Ming, president of the Chinese Basketball Association, extended a warm welcome to the Canadian team in a phone call. He expected both teams to hone their skills through the matches and later show their best at the Asian Games.
