Curtain came down on the 2nd Session of the 13th Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Zhanjiang International Convention Center on Jan 18.

During the three-day convention, CPPCC members of the municipal committee engaged in discussions regarding Zhanjiang's livelihood, and also made a variety of suggestions to propel the city's development, said Zheng Renhao, Party chief of Zhanjiang.

Zheng spoke highly of the CPPCC municipal committee's contributions in terms of political consultations and democratic supervision to the city's ongoing reforms and socioeconomic development.

According to Zheng, 2018 not only marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up but also is a crucial period towards the nation's goals of building an all-rounded well-off society and the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

All CPPCC members were urged to pay close attention to the livelihood issues and contribute their wisdom to helping the city become a subcentral city of Guangdong province.

Furthermore, Fu Heyan and Jiang Kehuang were inducted as new CPPCC members of the municipal committee during the meeting. Other notable happenings were the passing of the resolutions and debriefing of the progress made in proposal collection.
