According to Zhanjiang Tourism Administration, six 3-m-tall sand sculptures will be built in an area covering about 20 square meters. Some of them have already been finished, while the rest will be created during the Zhanjiang Ocean Week.

Upon completion, the surface of the sand sculptures will be sprayed with a special glue to reinforce it and keep it in place. Normally, the sculptures can keep their shape for half a year or so in the open air and will dissipate naturally without causing any pollution.

Many of the sand sculptures draw their inspiration from marine tales and mythology. [Photo/gdzjdaily.com.cn]
