Representatives of nearly 100 media organizations and travel agencies from all across China were invited to the coastal city of Zhanjiang to attend a tourism promotion campaign on Nov 17.

The guests visited Jinshawan Bathing Beach, Jinsha Bay Sea-view Corridor, Zhanjiang Aquatic Sports Center, Yugang Park, Guangzhouwan French-style Street, Zhanjiang Huguangyan National Geopark and Sanling Mountain National Forest Park. They expressed their admiration of the city's clear sky, blue sea and beautiful natural sceneries.

During the promotion campaign, a Zhanjiang tourism image ambassador introduced the city's rich tourism resources to the participants. A number of cooperation agreements were also signed between some travel agency representatives and local tourism enterprises.

The event, organized by the Zhanjiang Tourism Bureau and Guangdong Tourism Association, is aimed at promoting a variety of local tourism products, involving coastal areas, sightseeing routes and the seafood.

As one of the pivot cities in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, Zhanjiang is faced with new opportunities for its tourism industry.

In the first half of 2015, Zhanjiang received a total of 16 million visitors, a 10 percent increase over the same period last year. Its tourism revenue reached 12.16 billion yuan ($1.91 billion), a year-on-year increase of 37.4 percent.
