Construction work of the south section of Guangzhou Bay Avenue, a significant road for Zhanjiang's tourism started on Nov 15.
Mayor Wang Zhongbing, inspected the construction site the same day and demanded the road should open to traffic by July 2016.
The Guangzhou Bay Avenue is a major scenic road for the port city in South China's Guangdong province to boost its coastal tourism. When completed, it will connect all the scenic spots along the west coast and form a characteristic sight-seeing belt.
Meanwhile, it will help relieve the traffic congestion in Chikan and Xiashan districts. Starting from the Jinsha Bay in Chikan district to the Haibin Park in Xiasha district, the avenue stretches 11 kilometers.
