A delegation from Atlantic City in New Jersey, the United States, visited Zhanjiang on Nov 9.

Zhanjiang Mayor Wang Zhongbing welcomed the group led by Frank Gilliam, president of Atlantic City Council. The two sides had in-depth discussions on ways to strengthen friendship and promote cooperation in economy, trade and culture.

Zhanjiang and Atlantic City established a sister-city relationship in April 2012.

Mayor Wang said that the two cities, as sister cities, should enhance exchanges and cooperation in science and technology, environment, culture, education, tourism, trade and economy.

"Zhanjiang is making comprehensive efforts to develop its tourism industry, while Atlantic City has proven experience in tourism industry and city transition, which is worth learning from," said Wang.

Frank Gilliam responded that the two cities have similar development ideas, saying that they would be glad to offer help to Zhanjiang any time when necessary.

He hoped to promote cooperation with Zhanjiang and enhance sister-city relationship through his delegation's visits. He also invited representatives of Zhanjiang municipal government to visit Atlantic City.
