The city of Zhanjiang has been accelerating the construction of transportation infrastructure. In the first three quarters of 2015, its fixed-asset investments in transportation reached 4.43 billion yuan ($700 million), an increase of 17 percent over the same period of last year, according to the Zhanjiang Transportation Bureau.

Investments in railway construction amounted to 363 million yuan, a year-on year increase of 59 percent, while road construction expenditures reached 2.5 billion yuan, representing a 37 percent year-on-year increase.

The city's fixed-asset investments in transportation will continue to maintain rapid growth, as the constructions of Donghai Island – Leizhou Expressway and Suixi – Xuwen Expressway started in September 2015.

In the next stage, Zhanjiang will accelerate the construction of some key transportation projects, including Yunfu-Zhanjiang Expressway, Donghai Island Railway and Yulin-Zhanjiang Expressway.
