The city of Zhanjiang has issued loans worth 42.46 million yuan ($6.69 million) to 1,022 female entrepreneurs in the first three quarters of 2015 in an effort to encourage business start-ups by women and boost employment, Zhanjiang Evening News reported on Oct 19.

Zhanjiang's Suixi county, which was designated as a pilot area for start-up loans project for women, has offered 822 female entrepreneurs 20 million yuan in loans. Leizhou, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, has approved loans worth 9 million yuan for 141 women, while Xuwen county has offered 1 million yuan under the same scheme.
