An Internet pioneer park for young entrepreneurs in Zhanjiang's Xuwen county has attracted nearly 100 start-up enterprises since it was launched on July 6 this year, with total sales reaching more than 10 million yuan ($1.57 million), Zhanjiang Evening News reported on Sept 17.
The services provided by the pioneer park include offices, product displays, an e-commerce salon, logistics and financial services, and training classes. Young entrepreneurial teams in the park are exempt from property fees and utilities expenses.
Enterprises in the park sell their products around the country as well as to foreign countries such as Columbia and Brazil.
Post-90 entrepreneur Zhou Linsen and his partners have settled in the park. They mainly sell products derived from galangal, a plant similar to ginger, on e-commerce platforms.
"I have a deep affinity to galangal as I learned how to grow the plant from my father in my childhood. I hope to develop the value of galangal and promote the brand through the Internet," Zhou said.
Xuwen is a large agricultural county. Local government hopes to change its traditional agricultural products sales mode and improve brand awareness and added value through e-commerce development in the park.
