When China's National Tourism Administration announced its first rural tourism brand list recently, with the village of Longmen in Xuwen county, Guangdong province was recognized as a pilot "rural tourism village".

The village, which goes back more than 300 years, sits at the center of the Tianyang basin where most of the people raise pineapples, so it is possible to see acres of pineapple plants and wind power generators amidst the volcanic crater.

Guangdong province had 36 villages getting a rural tourism award, which administration established to encourage the creation of tourism brands and improve rural tourism.
