Zhanjiang in Guangdong province saw a surge in furniture exports over the first seven months of 2015, with total export value hitting 3.35 billion yuan ($526.3 million), nearly 50 percent increase over the same period in 2014. It accounts for 34.9 percent of the city's total export value, according to customs statistics.

Exports from private enterprises reached two billion yuan, which represents a 41.9 percent rise from that of the last year. Exports by foreign-invested enterprises amounted to 1.33 billion yuan, up 64.7 percent. Most of the furniture was exported to ASEAN countries, followed by the USA and the United Arab Emirates.

Zhanjiang's foreign trade has achieved a turnaround starting from May, posting a steady increase for months in a row, with gross export value hitting 3.12 billion yuan in July alone.
