In the first half of 2015, Zhanjiang's fixed-asset investment in transportation reached 2.65 billion yuan ($413.7 million), representing 63 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Zhanjiang Transportation Bureau.
Investments in road construction amounted to 1.65 billion yuan, increasing 176 percent over the same period last year, while port construction expenditures reached 800 million yuan. Zhanjiang's port cargo throughput also recorded steady growth in the first half of this year, reaching record high to 114.3 million tons.
Investments in railway construction hit 105.7 million yuan in 2015 H1.
The city's fixed-asset investment in transportation will continue to maintain rapid growth, as Donghai Island – Leizhou Expressway, Suixi – Xuwen Expressway and Hepu – Zhanjiang Railway will start construction in the second half of 2015.
Zhanjiang's full year transport investments are expected to reach 8.1 billion yuan.
