An e-commerce platform that sells fresh food started trial operations in Zhanjiang's Chikan district on Aug 2.

The website was founded by 10 college graduates in Zhanjiang.

Thanks to the website's offering, receiving a delivery of fresh vegetables at doorsteps by just placing an order online is no longer a dream for local residents.

Many office workers are too busy to buy food, whilst it is inconvenient for the elderly with mobility difficulties to go to the market. Chen Yinfi, a post-90s college graduate, saw a business opportunity in this fact of modern life and founded an entrepreneurial team with nine university mates.

To guarantee food security, Chen and her partners have built their own vegetable production bases. They hired farmers to grow rice and all kinds of vegetables, and regularly conduct food safety testing in farmlands.

They also cooperate with high-quality suppliers to enrich food varieties. So far, the website has attracted nearly 40 VIP users. There are more than 10 orders every day since it has started operations.

"The demand is far beyond our expectation for such an initial stage. However, we are just starting up and I hope to further expand it into a bigger market. Our entrepreneurial team is confident of the future," said Chen.

In the next stages, they plan to integrate the "Internet Plus" with the home-based care system in communities, sending vegetables to the elderly people who live alone.

The elderly are able to order the service through telephone or online at home.
