Zhanjiang Port

Zhanjiang Port is the first deepwater seaport designed and constructed after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was opened for service in 1956. After nearly 60 years of construction and development, it has become one of China’s 25 pivotal seaports and a major port, with its annual throughput exceeding 100 million tons, in the southwest . It is also the premier foreign trade port for the midwest and south regions, and the main distribution center for energy resources and raw materials in South China. The port boasts the deepest 300,000 DWT channel in the country and provides the best navigation conditions and best discharge facilities for handling crude oil, iron ore and coal in South China.

Zhanjiang Port (Group) Co., (ZPG) is the leading public port operator in Zhanjiang. It was established as Zhanjiang Port Group in 2004 by the Zhanjiang Port Authority. After an entire restructuring in 2007, ZPG has become a joint-stock enterprise with foreign investment, held by Zhanjiang’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, China Merchants Holdings (International) Company , Baosteel Group and five other shareholders. At present, ZPG has 37 productive berths with annual throughput reaching 116 million tons.

Geographical superiority

Zhanjiang Port opens navigation with more than 100 countries and regions in the world, offering the shortest shipping routes to Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania from the Chinese mainland.

The port’s hinterland covers the east, southwest and central south economic zones of China, mainly including Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Hainan provinces and extending to Hubei, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangsu, etc.

Channel advantage

The designed water depth of the existing channel at Zhanjiang Port is 21.9 meters, which can accommodate 300,000 DWT fully laden vessels.
