Guangdong, Kuwaiti consulate general sign land use agreement for new chancery

On Dec 22, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Guangzhou signed an Executive Land Use Agreement. The agreement formalizes the allocation of a plot within the city's Chigang Diplomatic Mission Area for the construction of the consulate general's permanent premises.

Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and Abdullah Al-Turki, consul general of Kuwait, signed the document on behalf of their respective sides.

During the signing ceremony, Ma commended the agreement as a significant step, guided by the strategic guidance of both nations' leaders. He said that Kuwait is the first Arab country to establish a consulate general in Guangdong and the first to select a site within the Chigang area for its chancery construction. Ma expressed his office's continued commitment to facilitating the project and expanding practical cooperation across various fields.

Al-Turki expressed his gratitude for the consistent support from the office. He reiterated the commitment to strengthening the partnership and fostering greater exchanges between Kuwait and Guangdong.

The Chigang Diplomatic Mission District already hosts the consulates general of Thailand, the Republic of Korea, and Uganda. The signing of this agreement with Kuwait is expected to positively influence the decisions of other consulates considering establishing a presence in the district.
