Overview: 

West Pomeranian Voivodeship, located in the northwest of Poland, borders Germany to the west and the Baltic Sea to the north. Spanning approximately 22,900 square kilometers, it boasts a coastline of 185 kilometers, with Szczecin serving as its capital. As one of Poland's most economically developed regions, it is home to 22 entry and exit ports, the highest number in the country. The region is also home to the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście, the 6th largest port complex on the Baltic Sea (as of 2023). The local economy is driven by key sectors such as shipbuilding, fishing and seafood processing, transportation and tourism. The region is rich in natural resources, including petroleum, natural gas, iron ore and limestone.

Relations with Guangdong:

Since the establishment of their partnership, Guangdong province and West Pomeranian Voivodeship have fostered practical cooperation and exchanges in areas such as trade, culture and tourism. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the then governor of West Pomeranian Voivodeship sent a letter expressing solidarity with Guangdong, and in response, Guangdong's government donated medical supplies to the voivodeship. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their partnership in 2021, Guangdong organized an international exhibition focused on Polish cinema. Olgierd Geblewicz, the governor of West Pomeranian Voivodeship, sent a congratulatory video and recommended a film for the event.
