Fujian issues first RCEP certificate of origin for exports to Myanmar
On May 7, Xiamen customs issued a certificate of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement for a batch of aluminum easy-open lids that will be exported to Myanmar.
It was the first RCEP certificate of origin that has been issued in Fujian province for exports to Myanmar since the world's largest free trade deal took effect in the Southeast Asian country on May 1.
The aluminum easy-open lids that are worth $343,000 were produced by Xiamen Baofeng Industry Co. The company has one of the largest aluminum easy-open lid factories in the world and has seen a rapid increase in exports to Myanmar over the past few years.
Since the RCEP agreement took effect on Jan 1 this year, Xiamen customs has been working to teach local companies about relevant policies as a key step to promote stable foreign trade growth.
In the first quarter of this year, Xiamen customs and the Xiamen Commission of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade issued 2,279 RCEP certificates of origin worth a total of $170 million to 283 companies.
