Culture, tourism thrive in Fujian
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, Fujian province launched a number of high-quality cultural tourism projects and cultural products in various forms, including Min opera, movies, books, as well as TV dramas, which have met people's spiritual needs and enhanced their sense of fulfillment.
In 2019, Fujian's cultural industry achieved an added value of 216.1 billion yuan ($33.81 billion), accounting for 5.1 percent of the regional GDP. It has become a pillar industry of Fujian, with the comprehensive strengths of the arts and crafts industry, printing industry, animation game industry, as well as cultural creative design industry in the province ranking in the forefront of the country.
Despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the country's tourism industry, Fujian province has made full use of digital platforms to explore opportunities for the development of its cultural tourism.
Through live broadcasts and videos, the province has greatly promoted its tourist attractions and local delicacies, boosting the confidence of tourism practitioners, as well as accelerating the recovery of its tourism industry.
Fujian province recently enacted the plan for culture and tourism development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
The plan proposes that Fujian will steadily promote the high-quality development of culture and tourism industries by building a tourism industry cluster, as well as by supporting the creation of literary and artistic works.
