Fujian increases quality of life with modern urban and rural infrastructure
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Fujian province has witnessed great changes in its urban and rural areas where local residents are enjoying convenient infrastructure facilities, enabling them to live comfortable lives.
Fujian has allocated more than 1 trillion yuan ($156.9 billion) in urban and rural infrastructure construction over the past five years.
Fuzhou and Xiamen opened their first metro lines in 2016 and 2017 respectively, the first metro services in the province.
Fujian has also constructed and repaired 7,400 kilometers in urban roads, as well as added nearly 200,000 public parking spaces in urban and rural areas.
The province has also worked on promoting the construction of parks in cities to form an ecological environment where human beings and nature live harmoniously.
The newly-built Sanjiangkou Ecological Park in Fuzhou exemplifies the province's achievements. Opened on Sept 30, the park attracted over 137,000 visits during the seven-day National Day holiday.
