In order to attract more young overseas talents to work in Fujian province, the 2021 Overseas Returnees' Project Signing Ceremony and the Project Roadshow and Docking Fair were held in Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian province, on Nov 8.

Organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, these events aimed to give full play to the intellectual advantages of overseas returnees to promote the implementation of rural-revitalization projects and boost local economic and social development. 

The events invited 37 overseas high-level talents (25 of them have obtained doctoral degrees) from different majors including new materials, new energy, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, electronic information, environmental science, financial management, and intelligent manufacturing.  

Two representatives of overseas returnees who have contributed to Fujian's rural revitalization were also invited to share their stories and experiences. They are Lin Dongmei, deputy director of the China National Engineering Research Center of Juncao Technology, and Chen Faxing, council member of the Loquat Branch of Chinese Society for Horticultural Science.

Several returnees then conducted online and offline project roadshows covering different fields such as digital medicine, electronic information, new environmental protection materials, and modern agriculture. After analyzing each project's competitiveness and investment value, venture capital institutions and entrepreneurial mentors were invited to put forward their suggestions.

Two cooperation projects were signed on site. One of them revolves around developing characteristic agricultural products and promoting them on e-commerce sites to increase rural income. The other project is related to promoting Fuqing's honey pomelo industry by applying scientific and technological achievements made by the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University.

Next, Fujian province will regularly carry out relevant activities to attract overseas returnees and form a long-term working mechanism to promote rural revitalization and grass-roots development, thus bolstering the high-quality economic and social development of the province.
