Since the sudden outbreak of the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, overseas Chinese returnees from around the globe have been rushing to make donations and contribute to the fight against the outbreak, according to local media reports on Feb 24.
The Fujian Youth Overseas Returnees Association, led by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Youth League, had raised 57,600 yuan ($8,191) within three days and collected 1,000 medical items worth more than 100,000 yuan.
The association also purchased protective clothing and face masks, which are currently the most urgently needed medical items in Wuhan.
The Fujian Youth Overseas Returnees Association consists of more than 1,500 young overseas returnees and has taken an active role in various public welfare undertakings since its establishment in 2016.
